March 3-4, 2001 — Could be anyone
Once again the plan was to wake up early and to write a journal before many people had noticed that I hadn't posted one last night. And once again I turned off my alarm and went back to sleep. There's something about waking up, eyes stinging and head pounding, only to find snow building up on the balcony and no email waiting for me that just isn't conducive to journal writing. After two more hours of sleep (and a rather bizarre dream that had me fighting James Earl Jones in his role from "Conan: The Barbarian"), I was ready to start on my journal. After checking the mail and going shopping for bagels and cream cheese. And after eating a bagel. Or two.
I didn't write a journal last night because I spent many, many hours fixing up the site for the first time in months. The cast page has been updated a little bit: still no pictures or lengthy descriptions of people, but Gillian's no longer listed as my girlfriend and a few of the little details have been changed. I also made "timeline" and "prehistory" pages. The former is simply an outline of what's been going on in my life since I started writing a journal, and the latter is 18 years of my life compressed into about a page of writing. Next time I'm at home I'll pillage the family photo album for embarrassing pictures that I can add to the "prehistory" page. It'll be fun.
Meanwhile, the "about" section has been updated a bit too. I basically just wanted to be able to give people who don't know me in real life a really basic introduction so that maybe things would be a bit less confusing.
Other than that, it wasn't really much of a weekend. It still feels like the weekend even now, actually. I no longer have class on Monday until 4:00PM, and even then I only have to get up for a 10-minute quiz in calculus. (I used to have a class from 2:00-4:00PM, but I wrote the final term test in that last Monday.) So basically my week runs from 4:00PM Monday to 5:00PM Tuesday as far as classes that I actually attend are concerned. It'll be quite the lackluster year, I promise you that.
I'm currently working on the first antigreg contest and am trying to figure out what prizes I should award. Right now it's looking like a copy of Esthero's "Breath from another" will be on the table since I've two copies, but I haven't thought of anything else yet. I don't want to actually pay for anything, so options are limited. Maybe I should just list the prize as an "antigreg super-fun pack" and leave it at that. Unfortunately, that name assumes that a person would find a used copy of "Breath from another" and a pile of antigreg stickers and pins to be not only super, but also fun. Risky, to say the least.
Jeff's sick in Oshawa and I have the key to his room. Watch for my upcoming auctions on Ebay under "analogue synthesizers" and "really ugly bass."
Well, it's still snowing outside and I've got psyche myself up so that I'll be able to check the mail two or three more times before the end of the day. (If my Saves The Day hoodie doesn't arrive soon, Equalvision's going to get a piece of my mind.) I think I'll update the links section, too. Sure I have a formal lab due tomorrow in physics, but do you really think that's going to stop me? I'll just wake up early tomorrow morning and work on it.
