October 1, 2000 — Best month ever

I was up until almost 5:00AM yesterday working on BV3 stuff, so I elected not to do a journal. As expected, the weekend was pretty uneventful, so there's nothing to really tell. But being the first day of October, I can give you a preview of the month to come!

October 3: Well, technically it's October 3rd, but really it's midnight tonight. Kid A! It's been so long since a new Radiohead album, I'm bursting with excitement. In my own subdued way. I even avoided downloading songs off Napster so as not to taint the experience. I'd better get tickets to the concert.
October 5: Godspeed You Black Emperor! (their exclamation point, not mine) are playing the Bloor Cinema in what promises to be a completely and utterly amazing show. The last show I went to was Grade and the Radar Mercuries two summers ago, and before that it was the last Bran Van 3000 show in Ottawa. It's been awhile, and GYBE! will definitely provide an excellent way to return to listening to live music.
October 7-9: Thanksgiving weekend. I don't know, I guess it could be good, maybe.
October 17, part one: Two new Saves The Day songs are going to be on the Vagrant Records sampler. Nothing wrong with that.
October 17, part two: Toy Story 2 is released on DVD. Don't pretend you don't want it.
October 17, part three: Radiohead concert. If I don't get tickets, you'll notice that the site will no longer be updated, as I will be hanging from a rafter of Burwash Dining Hall.
October 24: And after two sit-down shows, it's time for a "rock" show, and who better to have drop by Toronto than At The Drive-In? I'm really starting to get into their albums, and by the time the 24th arrives, I'll be plenty more keen on seeing them. Plus, an Ottawa contingent ought to be visiting, which'll be fun.
October 31: There are tentative plans to dress up as hardline straight edge kids with plastic baseball bats and x'd-up hands. Ooh boy.

Now, if not for the fact that I'm going to have to start doing some work at university soon to avoid failing and being kicked out, October would be perfect. But it's still pretty darned close.

And in case you're worried about this optimistic view of the month clashing with the site's general message, I'll get back to the depressing, cynical style with today's real journal entry, if I'm conscious enough to write it by the time I've finished everything I need to finish before sleeping.
