August 20, 2000 — "I keep remembering the day...

...you said you might go crazy if you spent one more minute with me."

The first CD I burned last night consisted of both Saves the Day CDs onto a single disc, which I have been "testing" by listening to its 26 songs over and over while trying to get some work done today. The line mentioned above remains my favourite, because if there were one phrase that would make me want to write, "That's so true!" in the margin of the liner notes, that would be it. It's always disappointing, mind you, to find out that you're not the first person on earth to experience the emotion that you've found described so well by someone else.

Two consecutive nights of over ten hours of sleep; things are going well. Of course, I still didn't get much work done, but the project must be online by tomorrow night, so I will get it done if it means staying at work all night tomorrow. (My sleeping bag is still in a filing cabinet, so this is a definite option.) But on Tuesday I'll be free. I can almost feel my mental health improving...

But really, I think university is going to be an extremely good influence upon my mental health. My part-time job is going to be something I love doing (working on the Bran Van 3000 page), I'll be getting up at 9:00AM everyday (compared to 5:00AM), and the scars of Ottawa will be reasonably far behind.

Moving on, I'm proud to note that anti-greg TV is now up-and-running, but xoom.com is down, so I can't launch it yet. It's always something, I guess. I'm still kind of surprised that the xoom.com membership agreement doesn't have anything about remote-hosting in it (to prevent people like me from dumping all their images on their server, setting up dummy pages, and then loading the images from their real server), since setting up anti-greg would be impossible at both Tripod and Geocities. Ah, to be a nerd...

The slogans that have been posted lately have been a little odd, to say the least. I thought the "He's more afraid of you than you are of him" slogan was great, but the person got rid of it very shortly after posting it. And then someone else posted something about wanting to piss me off, which was followed by the current "a touch of class" slogan. I'm not sure if the current one is aimed at me or at the person who posted the slogan about wanting to piss me off. But I'm definitely going to have to get around to putting a slogan archive online. I'm busily adding my own comments and will post a nice, large archive as soon as I've the chance.

I'd hate to ruin my current spree (two days!) of decent mental health by not sleeping tonight, so I'm going to go to bed early, and I'll be all set for tomorrow's marathon of work. I hope I'm not so excited about the prospect of 9 hours of Visual Basic coding that I won't be able to sleep...
