August 4, 2000 — anti-greg radio
Only one interesting thing happened today, so we'll start there (and I warn you that it's all downhill after this). Shortly after lunch, Pat Adams called me to let me know that there was some airtime free at CKCU on Monday morning from 7:00AM to 10:00AM. Now, admittedly, this isn't really that high-profile a time slot. But neither of us are the type to pick and choose, so fun will no doubt be had by all. I have the nerve to call it anti-greg radio in the title for this journal, but it's probably more accurately named as "The Pat Adams and Greg-the-tag-along Show." We're going to be asking for requests as far as music is concerned on anti-greg before Monday roles around, either through a thread in the discuss section, or in a special request-submission program, if I've time to write one. More air time is promised in the future, too, so this should be fun.
And other than that... I went for lunch with Will and got to work ridiculously late again afterwords, I didn't finish any projects (I need to get my act together), and I generally wasted away the day. I got my dad to rent "Minus Man," which turned out to be a very good movie. It's about a serial killer, but not in the normal way at all. It was sort of scary because by the middle, I knew that any ending in which he got caught would bother me and that I wanted him to get away. I won't ruin it for you by letting you know whether or not the ending was one I approved of, in case you plan on seeing it.
Speaking of movie reviews (kind of), the National Post had a hilarious review of "Hollow Man" today. Their movie reviews are generally quite good, especially those by Scott Feschuk (however one spells that). He concluded his "Hollow Man" review by saying something along the lines of, "Sometimes I feel guilty for dismissing a movie as bad as this when it's obvious that a lot of work went into it. But then I think of the thousands of people paying $10 of their hard-earned money to go see it and I don't feel as guilty." I saw the movie at a preview screening on Monday, and I think the two stars that the Post gave it were pretty generous.
After a bike ride and a brief stint trying to clean my room, I ended up here and plan to soon end up unconscious in bed, preparing for the days of work ahead. Due to the fact that I'll need to have the car on Monday to haul records into CKCU, I won't be able to sleep-over on Sunday night, but I plan to make up for this on Monday night, so it's okay.
