July 24, 2000 — Rotting leaves and apple juice

My dad just called me a "lazy asshole" for not helping him to empty the pool of leaves, in spite of the fact that he decided to this out of nowhere and at the time he asked me I was brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed. I wasn't even wearing any pants (although I was wearing boxer shorts, before anyone starts to think that this was too sordid an evening). I don't know, I feel guilty for not helping, but it wasn't the best of times and I desperately need to go to sleep (admittedly, I'm quickly typing up my journal first, but that's hardly heavy lifting).

Prior to this, my day was going alright, I guess. In that it went quickly and I didn't have any meetings at work. I just got to code all day long, which is far more enjoyable than being dragged in and out of meetings trying to act diplomatic when I feel like exploding on the inside. (It's for reasons like these that computers seem so much better than real life.)

The weather was finally really nice again. It had been cold and windy most of last week when I tried to go rollerblading, so it wasn't much fun. This week is looking a bit better, if not for that fact that I've so much work to do that I may not have time. The world is a spiteful place.

Because I'm so tired I can barely walk (as previously mentioned), I'm not going to be able to finish coding the new journal or discuss pages, which are going to be far easier to use and which will allow far better discussions once I get around to finishing them. And once I'm done that I'm going to go through all my scripts and fix them so that they've enough security that I trust them not to be broken by stupid people with too much time on their hands. And then I'm going to start promoting the site. Won't that be the day?

Tomorrow I'm going to do most of the upcoming (and rather stupid and lazy) anti-greg feature (the greg's-attempt-at-photography one), so it will hopefully be online this week.

Sleep.
