June 9, 2000 — The pleasures a wayward distraction
It took a bit of work, but I got the Internet to work at my aunt and uncle's house without having their passwords. Admittedly, I ended up just using the free AltaVista Web provider and it's not like I did any hacking I can be proud of, but at least I'm getting my hit.
So here's what's sad: I'm in Toronto and all I can think about is how much easier it would be to update my Web site and check my email if I was at home. I think the fact that I'm so thoroughly addicted to the Internet makes me far more keen to avoid any substances with a potential for abuse.
Not much actually happened today. It was an epic drive to Toronto, with a trip to my grandmother's apartment downtown adding another hour to the journey. Basically, it was straight to the baseball game after getting to Toronto. I tried to find an Expos visor before the game, but had little luck.
I felt really weird actually being a spectator at a sporting event. With my assorted boycotts and criticisms of everything I can find time to complain about, it doesn't seem that I could justify watching a baseball game, but here we are. The weird thing is I actually kind of wished I'd skipped the Toronto trip and gone to school today since Thursday was pretty fun with the whole PostIt note business. School's so much more interesting now that I've a distraction.
Right then. So back in Toronto, the baseball game was exceptionally cold since they had the roof open and I was only in a tshirt (I'd suggested I bring a sweatshirt, but my dad said that was stupid since it was so warm out, so I left it behind). We ended up leaving after the sixth inning when the Expos were losing seven to three. We'll see how it turns out by morning.
And now I'm wasting my night away feeding my Internet addiction and using my limited skills of deduction to figure out who the question mark people are. I don't have a clue who the more recent one is; I've a guess for the original anonymous person, but I'd hate to share it and be wrong.
That's about all. Tomorrow I'm visiting Victoria College again to take a look at where I'll be spending $60,000. How terrifying.
